We are invited to a BBQ this weekend as my friends hubby is getting his Aussie Citizenship. It says BYO drinks on the invite but I do not know if it custom to bring something additional for him? And if so, what??
Any suggestions? Ta

I don't know if its customary. When a friend became a citizen they were given a gift pack of thongs, vegemite, lamingtons - just stuff that is seen as traditionally Australia (even if it's not really).
Hi, I'm Norm, brought to you by my high horse, Ned.

Hehe I did laugh out loud when I read thongs - to me they are still a type of womens underwear
But I see where you are going with that - maybe we shall do the opposite and give him some traditional UK fare (he is British too) as he seems to already have adapted quite well into Aussie life

does he have a garden? an australian plant is given out at some ceremonies that I've been to - so a grevillia, bottlebrush, Wollemi Pine
