Have you tried talking to the ABA? Maybe they will have some advice or strategies you can try. I am about to try milk cards here, because my 2yo dd just feeds all day and half the night and I am finding it so exhausting!

Hope you come across some new ideas and find something that works for you and your dd :)

I weaned DD1 at 22months as I was pregnant and had an aversion.

I did it very slowly, cutting down her feeds, distraction, water, food, cows milk if needed. We went from 5 a day, to 3 (morning, nap, night), dropped night first, then a week later dropped nap, and finally dropped the early morning feed (which involved me needing to wear a t-shirt to bed and fly out of bed as soon as she woke up).

Just seen this....

I had no idea, here is a link to a thread where I asked, hopefully it helps you.

It's been a few days since our last feed, my boobs are still quite sore but definitely getting less so and she has shown no interest in feeding anymore either. Hopefully it goes as smoothly for you too.

Thanks for the replies. DD (2) feeds too many times day & night. Milk cards, distractions, sticker charts don't work. She'll happily drink out of a cup, a glass & a big girl bottle. She won't drink plain milk.

I'm over 6+ feeds at night and the same during the day. I don't think she needs it, I think she just wants it.

Are there really tablets that dry up milk?

Thanks

Could you express and give her that in her cup that she likes and slowly mix cows milk in with it (3/4 EBM, 1/4 CM then next week 1/2 EBM, 1/2 CM and so on) until she is used to the taste of cows milk?

I did something like this when i put DS onto formula, but he was younger than K.

I googled stopping breastfeeding when I was looking at it and there was quite a few posts about those tablets, lots of side effects and not one person recommended them. Many thought doctors weren't allowed to give them unless for medical reasons, doesn't sound like a good option.

I kept a sippy cup with water next to me for those first few nights and if miss started to fuss I offered her that, I'm assuming you've tried that - what about if she chose her new special bed cup?

I just googled too Nom so will not go down that path. Pretty scary side effects! I have tried the water at night but maybe she needs to select a special one just for sleep time. Thanks for that idea :)

Might be a bit annoying, but try to be OUT all day if possible. A few days in a row and she'll start to forget she wanted to nurse all that time. I found keeping extremely busy and away from normal areas that we were bf'ing helped. For example, I use to always feed Cait on my computer chair, so I stopped sitting at the computer when she was around, or got up when she walked into the room so it wouldn't remind her.

IT takes about 10-14 days to change a habit, so you'll need to stick to it for a while!

I weaned at night by wearing a sports bra and a shirt so he couldnt help him self and I wouldnt just pop the boob in whilst half asleep lol, then i found day time more bareable... he cried the first few nights but then he went to sleep without it fairly quickly, so was easier than i thought!

I rite alot betta then what i used to did.

:P

First full day nearly done. I started yesterday after lunch. It seems to be working thus far. She can only have milk 3 times a day - going to sleep at night, waking up, going to sleep at lunch time. Every time she asks i say its not bed time to sleep yet. Needless to say, she has tried very hard to convince me its bed time!

Jenn- I can't leave home so distracting like that won't suit Us but it works on weekends. But thank you :)

Right now I'm full, heavy & we've got 1.5 hours until bed time. She is doing great.
