So my tounge has felt a bit funny the last couple days when brushing my teeth - I've also had a headache since Sat night.

Today the whole right side of my face drooped. my mouth muscles aren't working right - they don't go up into a smile or when I open my mouth my left opens more than my right and my eye is wonky as well. I got an emergency appt at the doc and I have Bells Palsy. I'm on steriods in the hopes that it helps it and Im booked in for a CT scan on thrusday to try and determine if the droopness is related to something more.

But I am wondering if anyone here has had it. How long was your face droopy for? Everything Im reading says it could be months before it improves. Has it happened to you more than once?

DH has his school reunion on Sat and I aready feel crappy about going feeling frumpy now add a stupid looking face into the mix :( I know its vain but I can't help it

I haven't had it but it absolutely is more common in women after having a baby. It really does depend on how severe the palsy is, not to scare you but depending on severity it can last days/weeks/months/years... There was actually a story on Dr Oz or The Doctors or something the other day and a Doctor came on who actually had Bells Palsy - I think it was channel 10, they might have it on their catch ups website?

I would be totally the same hun. Hope you're okay, and theres not much you could have done to prevent it, either. xx

A friend had it after her first born and she stayed away from everyone for a few months as she was so self conscious. It healed itself and was back to normal I think 3 mths later. She didn't get it after her second born though

Its not heaps bad yet JL - just a little droopy to look at but you can notice it when Im talking or open my mouth - I'm hoping for days not years (eep)

I've calmed down a little now I've had time to process.. as long as no one puts a camera in my face I should be alright :)

Sorry to hear. My Dad had it - he was hit by a truck and knocked off his motorbike, he was fine but a week later his face dropped, speech slurred etc and he was diagnosed with bells palsy. From memory I think it was around 2 months he had it. I hope it goes quickly for youxx

How amazing that you have posted this - I did a double take when I read the subject. I was just talking to me BIL last night cos I asked him if he had something in his eye as it looked a little 'squinty' and it brought on a huge conversation about Bells Palsy which I had never heard of before. He only had it for 4-5 days, I don't think the squinty eye last night was related, that's just what started the convo. So it easily could be days and not months.

I'll be thinking of you, hoping the CT doesn't show anything more than a short term problem. It must've been scary to go through - big hugs to you Tess. xx
