OK I'm starting to go around and tidy things up around here.
There will be some forum re-organisation (sections moved around etc..) won't affect most people too much as you guys primarily use the New Posts page however if you're starting new threads please take a look around and check for the most appropriate section rather than just throwing it in nearest available general chat section.
The other things that are being tidied up is some of the forums themselves.
I just discovered that the auto-prune on places like the shoutout forum was/is no longer working. I'll be fixing that and adding the feature to a number of other forums to prune some of the more time sensitive stuff.
As I'm sure you're all aware Supporter Memberships are available again. Just a reminder to those who are still supporters from their previous subscription. If you DO NOT RENEW by 1 May your account WILL be downgraded to normal member and with it the reduction in PMs etc.. I'll be adding a feature in the next couple of days accessible for Supporters that will allow you to download and or print your PMs to "archive" them if you have too many and aren't going to renew your membership. However you will need to do this BEFORE 1 May as you'll no longer be able to access the tool once you are downgraded and your only choice will be to delete the excess PMs
Speaking of Memberships. Business memberships are on their way and those of you who are interested will be able to upgrade from a supporter membership (only paying the difference in price) so there won't be any disadvantage in signing up early.
In other user news almost 500 users who hadn't visited since the beginning of the year and hadn't ever made any posts have been moved to an inactive group. They will be notified of this move shortly. This group has limited access to the forum and they will remain there for 2 weeks during which time they will have the chance to start to participate in the community. If they haven't done so within the two weeks these accounts will be deleted and purged from the system.
I'll be going through in the next few days and tightening up the other less simple definitions of those who are inactive or no longer using the forum.
If you have a past history of extensive use you'll be given a little more leeway. Over a certain threshold your account may remain permanently.
In basic terms if people haven't visited the site since the new year then they will likely be on the chopping block. But as I said things will vary a little based on post count and history etc.
You'll also notice a number of the more "general chat" forums for different site sections, health, cloth etc have been replaced with more specific sections. These older generic general chat sections will now be retired and you'll see a number of them have become read-only. Eventually these read-only forums will be collected in an archive section.
If you have a need for a thread on one fo the read-only sections to be revivied then please PM me with details.
Think that's about it for the time being.
Dan.
