My DD is insiting on night training herself at the moment

Anyway, we use sposies at night and will until the pack runs out or she trains herself so she is reliable. At the moment she probably wets 2 nights out of 7, the other 5 nights her nappies are completely dry, the nights she does wet they are so full they almost leak (the reason why we don't use cloth overnight).

So, how many times would you "reuse" a dry sposie? I feel bad tossing them the next day if they haven't been wee'ed in, so I have been using them for 2 nights, but then there still dry and I feel bad, but so far I have been tossing them after night 2. Would you reuse for night 3 or just toss them?

We reuse them until they start to risk falling apart!! With ds1 a pullup would last about 6 nights. Ds2 is in nappy pants and so far he has only had 3 dry nights in a run so thats how long we have used them.

Yeah, that is kinda where my logic is at the moment, but then I'm wondering if I throw a cloth liner in it would be ok IYKWIM? Maybe thats the middle ground...

I agree with this. I wouldn't even use it for 2 nights! But that's just me! :D

If she's not wetting them why not try a normal cloth nappy? Its not like they need to be as absorbant as a proper night nappy.

Personally i think its like undies - I don't reuse them without washing. If i won't wear undies twice why would i use a nappy twice? They get sweaty too.

I figure my boys have a bath before they go to bed and they are sleeping so im not too worried about them getting the nappy dirty or sweaty iykwim. I dont wash pjs every day - we will wear pjs for a few nights before we wash them. Hope we dont sound like grubby folk- we're not lol!!!

I would reuse it, maybe use a liner that is good thinking :) I hate throwing things out that haven't fulfilled their 'purpose' LOL

The nights she does wet she fills the sposies and occasionally even leaks. She would leak through a cloth nappy very easily (I know, we have tried)

DD has a bath at night, and being winter she isn't sweating. I don't know, I'm kinda conflicted, I don't wear undies twice, but a) I'm an adult with certain hmm... discharge, and B) they don't cost 35c per use...

That's exactly it, I have no issue with using sposies and tossing them (so wasting the 35c), but to throw something that hasn't even really been used just seems so wasteful.

We use sposies overight too and some mornings I'm not sure if its wet or not - its not obviously wet but feels a little bit balled up at the front - not sure if its just from being worn or if there is a little bit of wee in there. Totally OT I know.

Anyway I would re-use it - just use a liner.

I don't see the problem in reusing it. As you say kids don't get discharge like us mature folk!

I would reuse them (tho we dont use them, but if we did) and if i felt concerned about cleanliness id probably put a liner in them *shrug* unless they have been soiled i dont see an issue
it wouldnt be just the money for me i would feel guilty making extra trash, tho the times i have used sposies ive used the *green* options

I've run out of sposies so DD wears a BBB and cover overnight. Like your DD Merla, Sienna is dry 5-6 times a week, so the BBB does the trick on the "wet" nights.

However we were using sposies and i was chucking after each use even when dry. I often wondered if i could reuse as it seemed like such a waste, but i could never bring myself to do it!

If i ever buy sposies again (don't think i will though) i'll use a liner and reuse if dry!

Maybe you could put a pair of undies on her under the sposie? I guess a liner would do the same job! I think I might steal that idea actually cause my dd is the same, but she prob wets 1 night out of 10 or so and we are chucking dry spozies out every morning!

I'd reuse it too. L occasionally uses sposies when cloth is wet, but also has to have an eenee's pad in to hold all her wee. We have about 5 eenee's pads left, and I'm not buying a new pack, so I'll keep reusing them if she doesn't wee. I just turn the pad over, or if it's the 3rd night, throw a flushable liner over the top (we've never gotten past 3 nights)

I thought about putting undies on, but it makes it a complete PITA when she needs to go to the toilet overnight and I really can't be bothered...

I would use them again.
They are freshly bathed and then into bed.
If they don't wet it of course use it again.
It makes total sense.
In this day of everything disposable it would feel good to help just a bit by reusing dry nappies :)

With my almost four year old, I use a lanolised wool soaker over the top of the disposable and have NEVER had a leak doing that. The only leaks I have had is when I have just put jarmie pants over her disposable. I just knitted her a pair of jarmie shorties out of 100% pure wool and she wears it every night over her disposable. I would use a cloth nappy, but she's too big! Wool is great because as it breathes, the wee evaporates during the night, so they don't even feel wet in the morning. The soaker just needs airing out each day.

With respect to re-using disposables, I used to, but would only do it 2 nights in a row... The suggestion about putting a liner in is a good one.
:)

Thanks for the input and suggestions, in the end I didn't need to reuse them more than 2 nights because on the 3rd night she refused to wear a nappy. She has been sleeping nudey bum for the past two weeks now without any accidents, and is reliably waking me at night when she needs to use the toilet. Going to hang onto the remaining 1/2 pack of sposies for when were visiting people or she is staying at nannas just incase.
