Why do you use sposies?

Is it a financial factor, time, availability, fit..
:)
ETA: Non-judgmental discussion please!

So definitely time factor.

Gabrielle wears them at kindy though. SHe is kind of toilet training at the moment so is usually naked.
Got to get hold of a night nappy for Sarah.
Gabrielle tends to rash up badly in cloth though regardless of how often she is changed. Sarah, so far, hasn't had the same problems.

We haven't bought any in months now(6?), due to the money issue and me *trying* to save a bit, plus the gross-factor of them got to me, even though their convenience was nice :p

I suffered bad morning sickness. I was vomiting all day/ every day. I told DP I couldn't do cloth for now and he was fine with it.
And now...Liam won't let me use cloth on him anymore. I'm hoping to start TT early next year though so Liams time in nappies is hopefully limited. Little baby in the belly will be in cloth mostly and posies when out.
I've kept my stash as I still intend to use them, just not on Liam anymore.

Izzy went through a phase where she didn't want to use cloth either.. Then one day she just decided it was ok again.. - Liam might as well... if you were wanting to encourage it :)

I used to use spoies bcoz i couldnt hang things on the line, 1. it was in the shade and 2. i have a bad back and couldnt reach up t hang them out.
Now that the weather is nicer though i plan to use them almost full time whenever possible coz i have had my back worked on and can finally reach the washing line YAY ;D

Now I have enough of a stash, I don't use them. I hate buying them, it's just dead money. And I don't like the gel chemical stuff in them. It doesn't rain here often so we shouldn't ever have a need for them.

Never ever? personally I dont think there is anything wrong with sposies if they are used very occasionally, in the way that people use paper plates and cups etc.
Would you still use mcn if your bubs had gastro??? Ewwww I wouldnt lol

I'd still use MCN. But I've got nothing against sposies... just not for us

.. but someone would need to wake me up too.
Currently working on my own night time nappies, but that's progressing way slowly.

He has only ever had a few sposies on cause he had thrush and I didnt want to spoil my mcn (I didnt know alot then). I still have that packet here, of NB that I bought 'just incase', hehe..
Nothing against sposies at all here, I have used them with my other kids on occasions, and sometimes more, but I feel guilty even thinking about using them now, as I cant justify wasting the money when I have such a great stash, iykwim, I could use that $15 on a book for one of the older kids or something.

I think I will take MCN and buy sposies if I get desperate though.

See, since looking into the environmental effects of disposables, I just can't do it any more. That and the huge mountain created by every baby every year which won't break down for centuries.
Plus for me it is now an ick factor. I touch a sposie (I work for a family who have their baby, same age as Phoenix, in sposies) and it feels too plastic to me.
I know that some people don't mind using them; I know some people love em. I just can't tie a plastic bag full of chemical gel to my son's genitals how that I know about MCN and have so many.
And meh. Gastro. We had that 3 weeks ago. I was changing his nappies AND his clothes hourly. Never crossed my mind to use a sposie. Guess it's just the way you view it. :) (Plus, paper plates biodegrade, and sposies don't.)

haha maybe you wouldnt have needed to change his clothes if he was in a sposie! LOL
I know what you are saying- the baby that I nanny for has huggies. In her room they have boxes and boxes of them stocked up- (they are RICH). They do feel plasticky and papery. The thing that I hate about them though is that I hardly even feel i need to change her! They never seem full, which some people might think is a bonus, but to me that grosses me out because it means that the baby is more likely to be carrying around lots and lots of wee without us really knowing.

my mother in law wouldnt let me wash madis nappies in her washer, out washing machine broke a while back and wasnt working for a week and i was doing my washing at her house and she said i could wash anything but dog bedding and madis nappies in her washing machine.... lucky my mum let me use hers.

It's not disgusting. It's natural.
I believe a few people on here have used laundromats before, I have heard it mentioned a bit, when they go away on holidays and there is no washing machine :)

Maybe it just depends on where you are.. because honestly, if the washer isn't CLEAN itself after the load is done, there has to be something wrong with it and it wouldn't be providing clean clothes either :S
