Hi, I'm just a bit curious how much people really spend on sposies. We're using cloth nappies most of the time with sposies at night or if we are going to be out for a particularly long day. we go through more disposables than I thought we would though. we use whatever nappies are on sale, babylove atm, about $25 for a box of 100 which will last about 3-4 weeksish. is this average? a friend of mine with two boys in disposables full time says she spends about $30 a week. my boy is nine weeks old and hers are 1 and 2 years so I guess that makes a difference. Ta :)

i have 2 in nappies, they wear sposies at night and to daycare (twice a week)

so we go through: 18 per week
i buy comfy bots (coles brand, found them on par with babylove) at $15 for 50nappies

as a fulltime sposie users i was going through a $30 box a week easily.

Approx $15 once every 3 weeks to a month. We mostly use them at night or if hubby is feeling lazy. At the moment we are going through them quicker as bubs is sick and I am not staining my MCN with the grossness of his nappies at the moment.

I have 2 in night sposies. If I use babylove for them both, it will cost me roughly $25 for 4wks (give or take a few days if we have night explosions etc).

I use cloth full time............execept when we go camping and holidays. I also used disposables when ds and I were really sick and he had 'the squirts' and I was too sick to wash twice a day.....

So since our holiday in January I have bought 1 big bag of disposables for the holiday, 1 big bag for camping and a small bag for when we were sick.

So have no idea how much that costs??

Nothing these days. Before we started cloth we would easily go through a big box a fortnight which was worth about $30 or something I guess? Maybe even more

too much.... I was using cloth full time untill a few months ago.... I lost confidence in my nappies.... DD doing much bigger wees.....Day naps are ok most of the time... nights were leaking every night so started buying some sposies.... then started using them on big day trips.....then I'll have a lazy day...and I get in to days where I using them for couple days at a time.

shitty at myself for getting out of cloth habit..... and sick of paying for sposies.......also sick of leaks from my cloth.... I have been putting of re-stashing DD's because I only did it a few months back and I hope to toilet train her over the summer.

I buy what ever on sale at the time....mostly snugglers boxes from bigw though.

One 50ish pack lasts us 2 weeks for 3 kids, we use only at night. So about $16 a fortnight. We have always struggled to find a good night nappy so we just use them at night even though I hate them its better than kids waking up wet every morning

thanks for all the replies, I'm still building my stash aswell but have another 7 nappies coming this week which should make things a lot easier. maby I should start looking for a good night nappy, too. I'm going to try to start using cloth on long day trips aswell, may as well show off the cute ones as much as possible right? :D I think I just need a better wet bag, I hate the smell of them sitting around... am I doing something wrong or should a wetbag totally contain the smell?

I am spending about $15 every 2 weeks - because ds just wont sleep in cloth and being in early pg my sleep is just more important right now. I'm still searching for a trimmer night nappy that he might sleep in so I can go back to full time.

$0 for DD , she has been full time since birth , she is 15 months now :D . I gave away all the disposibles i was given as I knew if I started using them I wouldn't stop .
Unfortunately for my 5 year old DS we use night pants and they cost a fortune . I think they are $1 per night if I get them on special . I hate buying them . One of these days he will night train , hopefully soon . he didn't properly toilet train until he was a bit over 5 so I am not holding my breath for nights .

$0
I have some odds and sods sample packs still floating around of various sposies probably have a dozen or so sposies if I counted them up, I'm a compulsive sign up for free nappies person lol

if we get a rash that isn't clearing up one of the twins will wear them the other remains in cloth. It did take us a while to sort out night nappies for them both, one fits better into a fattycakes and the other in a sproutsnap without rise adjuster snaps.

Ds is 18 months and I think i'm onto my 4 or 5th box of sposies? (I get the mega box of Babylove from Big W). We only use sposies at night - haven't been able to find a night nappy that works for us, and DS always seemed to wake up during the night when he was in cloth, but sleep through in a sposie. The good thing about it is it proves to DS that sposies aren't perfect either - we just went through a spate of DS wetting through his night sposie and waking up soaked in the morning - however, he is okay now that we have gone up to the next size (but don't tell DH that's what happened!) He has practically outgrown each box of nappies by the time we get through it :)

Mundy, I had this problem too with my 5yo DS and it was driving me insane - he had been night trained at 4yo, but reverted when DS2 came along. We bought a bedwetting alarm from Ebay for about $30-40 and fixed the problem in a couple of weeks - so much better than spending $1 each night on nappy pants :)

I have bought a few cheap nappies for when DS was baby sat, and when we went down to Brisbane for a holiday. But i spend maybe $15 on a pack which lasts 3mths. I use them when DS has had panadol too.

See we use cloth full time during the day and with DS1 it took months to find a night nappy that worked so were using sposies whilst we researched! DS2 nothing works at night so far so he's in sposies - I'd much rather him be in a sposie at night than wake up saturated twice a night and have to be changed!

We rarely use spouses, put them on ds when we had the same issue Ayla did with the bad rash but that's over now. I've solved the wet baby in overnight cloth issue, a bbh fitte night nappy and one of my covers that has microfibre boosting to catch any overflow. Ds hates sposies and I was getting desperate as he suddenly turned into a monster wetter.

To answer a question from a PP about cloth during the day, sposies at night, I'll answer why we do...we use sposies at night (the coles ones) as my two girls both feed during the night and in the morning need a truck to take the nappy away! I have tried every night nappy possible and none can withhold the sheer volume of pee that these two put out. I even tried boosting night nappies, but nope too much pee. The coles ones are the only ones we have tried that can take the pee (huggies, baby love, snugglers all failed)
In answer to how much on sposies per week, we go through 14 per week, so at coles they are 39c when on special, so $5.50 per week, or around $25 per month.

We use 1 per night and cloth during the day. Generally spend about $35 every 2.5 mths or so (that was huggies, now looking around for an alternative) but haven't bought any for a far while now as I got some really cheap off a friend who TT'd her girl and my best friend gave me heaps of samples and my grandparents gave me the remainder of a packet of sposies they had to buy when their dog had surgery..

I'm hoping that I get a free box of snugglers from a site I signed up to for market feedback and I just got a free pack of huggies because a couple of mine had gone brown from humidity.. so hoping not to have to buy until the new year.. However this will all change soon when we start to seriously TT and I will use pull ups as well which cost a fortune but yet to find a cloth trainer that does the same job - it's pricey trying to find the perfect one.

And also in answer to using sposies at night and cloth during the day - We've been doing the cloth dance now for over 2 years. In that time I've tried a number of night nappies and have never found one I've been 100% happy with. They cost $40 a pop if you buy new and that's a lot to wager on a product that may or may not work, then you need a few if/once you find one that works. Sure you can on-sell but you still lose out and believe me we did try. The last straw was when DD2 ended up with big open sores from night nappies TWICE and it took 2 weeks of hourly bum changes (which to an 18mth old is just so much fun NOT) plus creams, extra washing and not to mention her pain :( Seriously 1 sposie a night is not a compromise for me in any way.

We use cloth wipes at home, disposables when we go out :)

We have plenty of cloth nappies that work at night however I worry that DS will be uncomfortable in them for 12 hours because they look/feel a lot bulkier and wetter than a disposable. Luckily I spend very little on disposables because I have a great local woollies that puts stuff on clearance for insane prices and then I stock up. Last time I paid $3.50 for packets of huggies. :o

DH put DS to bed Satrday night and put him down in a cloth (I was out) yesterday he came up with a horrible purple blistery looking rash poor kid was walking like a cowboy.

Don't think we will be trying cloth at night for a while again.

We were using disposable at night since we started cloth. To be honest, the amount of people here that said they had tried a number of different night nappies, none that worked, put me off. Then a few weeks ago we bit the bullet and bought 5 night nappies, and 4 maz covers plus another no name cover and have not looked back!! No leaks, no problems so far!

When DD was a young baby in sposies (before i found cloth) i would spend about $50 a fortnight (2 1/2 packets @ $20ea).

Now i buy a big packet mostly for DD at night, so maybe $15 every 6 weeks or so? Really not sure, but only use them for DD at night and maybe 1 night a week for DS who's full time cloth.
