what things were you told to avoid while pregnant - foods, activities etc?

Which ones did you actually listen to and which ones did you think are just boloks?

I only avoided caffine for the first 3 months. WIth the list of 'do not eat foods' the only one I serioulsy avoid is soft serve icecream. I make sure the rest is fresh or heated up.

An old wives tale my MIL told me was not to tickle bubs feet when they were kicking me as it causes them to stutter when they learn to talk  I tickled DS all the time and he hasnt developed a stutter yet!!

I was told if you get heartburn during pregnancy it means you will have a hairy baby. DS hardly has any hair at 18months and wasn't born very hairy either.

I never had heartburn so everyone told me my babies would have no hair.
They were both born with huge amounts of hair, lol

Don't lift your arms above your head or the cord will choke the baby.
Dont dye your hair.
Don't have fillings done.
The gender ones (there is tonnes of those, ring tests, draino, palms etc)
Don't eat many nuts or baby will be alergic

All of the above are bullocks imo.

I rite alot betta then what i used to did.

:P

I was told to avoid soft ice cream from the ice cream van and anything unpasturised, well worth listening too as a baby only 2 yrs ago died from listeria, not sure if they were still born or died shortly after but his mum had contracted listeria.

Both my kids were born with lots of thick black hair, I only had heartburn with DS. I stayed away from 2 of my loves salami and coffee, I worked in a deli so hard to keep away from the salami! I craved soft serve with DD, I did not know it could harm your baby! She is fine but geez!

I used to eat soft serve when I was pregnant with DS, and also shaved meats and salami, since the garabouldi episode years ago, all salamis sold in australia have been treated so i've been told, the only thing I steer clear from is the soft cheeses, but thats more because I dont like them than because they're not good for pregnant women

I craved soft serve so much with my DS! I didn't eat it because I asked my midwife and she (knowing me) said best to avoid it because if you do eat it you'll just stress. The first thing I ate after DS was born was a McDonald's caramel sundae. With DD - same story but soft cheese and smoked salmon.
I got the wedding ring on a string one, to tell the gender. Is it circles girl straight lines boy, or vice versa?
