Hi there,
Tad concerned re my DS2. He is a week off 6 mths and we've just started BLW. He's had apples, carrots, sucked on a lamb cutlet, other fruits and does as well as his co-ordination allows :)
At lunch he was munching on carrot and I was having some toast. I decided to give him some toast, white bread with butter and vegemite. 10 mins later get him out of chair and strip him down for a clean and some nudey time. His excema has really flared up, or perhaps it's a rash on top of excema? DS1 has nut and egg allergies and has asthma on top of the excema. Could DS2's reaction to toast be a wheat allergy or something? DS2's excema is worse than DS1's so I'm hoping he doesn't get the asthma and allergies too but not liking my chances :s

I went through a similar thing with DD, every now and then she'd flare up after a meal, sometime it looked like excema and sometimes just spots. After paying close attention to what she was eating we narrowed it down to nuts and bananas. She had sensitive skin and was getting excema on and of for a while but not long after her 1st birthday it just cleared up and hasn't come back.
I think you just need to cancel stuff out and by trial and error and figure out what the reactions from. It might settle down in time.

that's excellent it cleared up for your LO. Sadly, i don't think that will happen here though as DS1 is nearly 5 and still suffers. Asthma is from me but i don't have food allergies or excema
hey, i can live in hope though right ;)

Hmm, could have been the gluten/wheat in the bread or even the dairy in the butter?
The best way to work out would be to remove the possible offender from his diet for a couple of weeks then slowly reintroduce it, watching for any reactions. I know they recommend speaking to a doctor before cutting out food groups though.
My DS is intolerant to both Dairy & Gluten - Dairy makes his skin break out in a rash/eczema and Gluten makes his Reflux flare up. As he's BF, I've had to cut all the nasties out of my diet and I tell you, it's hard work! There's seems to be one or the other in everything!
Fingers crossed for you guys :)

Far out! this is my concern........what do you eat? meal planning is already a major PITA. He did have some yoghurt yest and was fine. My gut instinct was wheat/gluten. We'll see, will try some more bread in a week or so
thank you
thank you

What about the Vegemite? Could it have been a Niacin Flush rather than eczema flair?
