DD has come out with HUGE rash all over her tummy, groin, armpits, behind knees and a few splotches on her face. Before she went to bed she had what looked like a few insect (mozzie) bites on her belly. She does have slight allergy to mozzies but has never reacted this bad before. She doesn't have a fever and the rash passed the glass test. She is in good spirits apart from being very itchy and therefore can't sleep. We are on lounge watching playhouse Disney.

What do you reckon this is? I have given her some antihistamine, how long should it take to work. I have also covered her in calamine.

hey hun, you have done what i would suggest you to do.. Sounds like she has had an allergic reaction to something if she isnt showing symptoms of being unwell. I would wait about 30 minutes and the rash should have started going down a bit. What antihistamine have you given her? We use zyrtec here and it works great. Has she eaten anything different or touched anything she usually doesnt? Any new pets/plants in the house?

we use zyrtec as well. Her daddy had her out this afternoon playing in the dirt with just her nappy on and she got dirt everywhere all down her nappy as well, I am thinking maybe something in the dirt or maybe the cut grass? We have also just started with a new baby soap wash, but we used it last night with no issues. It is "method" which is meant to be all plant based and natural but I guess she can still get a reaction?

Gave the zytec about hour ago and it is all still there but a bit less raised and angry looking on her back and sides but her belly is still raised and swollen looking. she doesn't seem to be scratching as much though. And no crying, she is tired but happy to sit with me, watch TV and chat.

Sounds like maybe something in the dirt.. My son gets hives if he gets grass on him too, and he screams blue murder. Hopefully it will have completely settled down by morning. Hope you both get some sleep.
