*sigh* I think i have some type of inomnia. I cant sleep. Its very tiring (obviously). At the moment its 3am and im awake, my son is too, he woke up crying, i think he had a nightmare. He wont sleep for a while, im going to be a wreck tomorrow. Last night i laid in bed at 11pm, i didnt get to sleep until after 2am. What is going on??
Any ideas on how to actually sleep, should i take tablets, im worried i wont wake up to the boy though..

Anyhoo, there wouldnt be anyone on here anyway, you are all sleepy lol.

Are you thinking about stuff when you can't sleep, like you can't switch off your head?

I'm a little the same. It's weird because I used to be a wreck if I didn't get 8 hrs but for the last few months I'm getting maybe 5 or 6 broken and I'm not that tired. Last night I was playing on the net til midnight, lay in bed for a half hour before ds woke for a feed. I often lie awake for ages, just get to sleep before he wakes then can't get back to sleep after the feed.

I think it's because I spend the day chasing kids and it doesn't stop till after 9pm so then I get a chance to relax and be me. If I go to bed too early I lie awake thinking about all the things I need or to do that I just dont get time for.

To get to sleep I need to stop analysing etc and think of something boring, like an ocean or trees and get everything else out. My sister suggested relaxation tecniques like focus on relaxing your toes, then your feet, legs and work your way aroung the body.

I hope you can find something that works for you. Maybe even talk to a doc about alternative to medication. Good luck.

Oh no, you poor thing. :( You could try mindfulness exercises such as the ones here:

http://www.stillmind...drelaxation.htm

They're great at clearing your mind so you're not lying awake thinking about what you need to get done the next day.

Oh nothing worse than lying in bed not being able to sleep hun :( It's quite common to be wakeful after midnight, especially around 3am. I think in chinese medicine it's the liver/lung hour LOL (not that that helps you much, but interesting).

All I can suggest is the basics - no caffiene after 3pm (maybe even a bit earlier if you are a coffee drinker). Don't eat after 7pm. Be well hydrated during the day but don't drink too much right before bed. Have the same bedtime every night if possible (getting overtired is the perfect recipe for an unsettled night). These things might help, but if you are anxious or depressed about something and it's causing your mind to churn over, maybe have a chat to someone and try to resolve it.

xx

Its more that i cant make myself go to bed early. And when ever i tell myself im going to bed at say 10pm, its 130am before i realise i should be in bed.

Last night ds didnt go to sleep until 3am, and then woke up at 8, so ive had 5hrs sleep, it seems like a lot but im still so tired. I will buy some valerian tablets today. And i will try and go to bed early tonight

Sometimes i do think of things, other times i dont, last night it was the cyclone i was thnking about, the other night it was my friend and there was a party up the creek, where people had to drive past our shed to get home, i was freaking some drunk people would steal stuff outta teh shed, or come to my house, i was playing out scenarios in my head. I do it a lot thinking about how my friend died. When DP is home my sleep is worse, i have half the bed space and he puts hte cold box on lol.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone.

I am the same, haven't been sleeping except I have been having nightmares where I wake up screaming. So now I get all anxious when I go to bed and of course can't get to sleep. I have some mindfullness cds to listen to, but my Ipod is elsewhere.

I am thinking of some natural stuff, there are a lot of herabl/vitamin things out there. But short term wise I am stuffed and still up at 12.43am.......

Haha i was awake at 5:30 this morning, went to bed at 1130 and tossed and turned untill 2am. I took a sleeping tablet too, useless thing, im thinking of going to the doctors soon, to see about that and ttc stuff, ill wait until this cycle is finished, so a few more weeks.
