do i need to add a tmi warning? lol

DS is 3mths and BF. He's been a once a week fill a nappy like you wouldn't believe poo-er but in the last day or so is dirtying every couple of hours. Its green and lumpy. This afternoon I noticed some red, blood like stuff in it which has me a little worried.

Nothing has changed recently, he has an occasional bottle of formula but the last one was a week ago. DD was sick recently but has been better for a week.

Should I worry?

It's probably something I would suggest you get checked out. It may be nothing to worry about at all, but I'd be erring on the side of caution with possible blood with bowel motions.

It is hard poo? Is he straining? Is it red blood or brownish blood? Is he well? It could be formula related (ie intolerance), but if it was a while ago the blood would possibly be a bit more on the brown side.

Its super runny and the stuff was browny red so not fresh. He is otherwise well, no symtoms and not even grumpy. This stuff always happens at 5 on a saturday hey?

Lol yes, always after hours!

As you can see how he is, I guess you either wait until Monday and see your GP, or if you are concerned (or if he passes more blood, in pain, becomes unwell etc) go into emergency to check it out.

Hope it's just a one off!

Green and/or frothy could be a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance if you're breastfeeding..

Red in it - that is probably not good! If it persists, or bubs is looking to be in a bit of pain I'd go into the ED just in case..

Do you have a number like 13 health that you can call for advice? I'd probably go to the emergency dept to get it checked out, just in case though

This happened with my dd at 8 weeks old. don't worry to much. My doctor said it was due to the dairy products I was eating was going throught to bmilk. My dd poos wore green frothy with blood. Sory if that was to much detail. She is now nearly one a gets a tummy ace from dairy. She suffered from colic. If you are worried you could call health direct they can advise you on what to do. My dd had bad tummy aces and pain. Hope this helps you.

I'd forgotten about the nurse on call line, i'll try it in the morning.

i have had a lot of dairy recently, and i was lactose intolerant as a bub so could explain something.
