I would be heading down to the hospital getting the drip rehydrating myself. Even if your not resting at least your body is getting what it needs!
And hugs hun it sounds nasty :(

Maybe just go in and let them put you on a drip for a few hours.

Your kids need you more than they need breastmilk. I know this isn't ideal but put him on a bottle and get yourself healthy so you can go back to him and start breast feeding again

If you go to hospital you will be able to take Kai and have him stay with you since you are breastfeeding. If you want to keep breastfeeding, I wouldn't go with a bottle. Maybe even the drip for a few hours might help. But yes id be very worried about bugs too.
Big hugs to you.

How come you can't feed Kai for 10 days?
Can you google to get another opinion. I wouldn't think that would be right Sarah.
Hugs. I hope you get better soon.
If you don't feed for 10 days your supply will be affected, even if you do express.

I am well aware about my supply :( gardia is a protizoa (sp) and needs hardcore antibotics and is resistant to most, the treatment has shown brain tumors in some lab rats and is NOT safe while breastfeeding. I am really upset about this but right now I am not absorbing anything from a single thing I eat and I am really unwell. So I am going to pump this week and hope that he still loves to nurse after.

Im really sorry Sarah :(
I thought the antibiotics might be the reason. Is there no alternative antibiotics for it?
Hopefully Kai will come back to your breast after you finish.
I guess just express as much as you can to keep up your supply for the 10 days. Huge huge hugs for you.

I'd get some hydralyte and drink as much as you can.
In the mean time, the study you read with brain tumours, did they say how long those rats were on the meds etc? I don't know those meds, but I do know most studies involve long-term use, not short-term use. I'd suspect that in short-term use you'd be fine to breastfeed, but alas that's your choice and responsibility so I'm not saying it's ok, but suggesting a bit more reading and such??

When ds wanted the bottle over the boob I expressed for at least three weeks before my milk went and even then in the end I went from three pumps a day to two pumps a day and then to one pump a day due to time restraints. I think you will be able to do this for ten days as long as you look after your health. Happy mummy equals happy body and happy body equals better milk supply. I really hope this works out for you. I also would not risk feeding bubs on antibiotics that the docs says not to breastfeed too.

You are doing the right thing - you only want the best for your bub, so get yourself healthy again and he will be loving that booby milk in no time.
Make sure you rest and get your hubby to do all the house work.
