I actually want to know what the price per nappy is, so if anyone can tell me what one of those big boxes costs RRP and how many you get in one, that would be great. Thanks

I took the 4 jumbo box contents and divided by 4 to get an average, so yeah, the bigger sizes will cost more, the smaller will be 'cheaper'.

I've been using disposables for nearly 2 years now and only now have I decided to use cloth. I became a single mum when my little boy was 8 weeks, and back then being a first time mum and a single mum at that I would not have been able to handle using cloth - with the little bit of extra washing etc. I have now decided to start using cloth, so that when I decide to have my next child, that I will be in the know of how cloth work. I dont think one or the other is better, it is personal prefference, and understand that cloth may not be practical for people - like it wasnt for me up until now. Good on everyone who is using cloth, and if there are people who are still using disposables that are reading this, you dont have to feel bad, as cloth isnt for everyone :)

I wasn't starting a debate, I just needed the info for something I'm writing. I truly have no concept of what they cost. Sorry if you took this to mean I was dumping on sposie users.

woolies have two boxes on special for $66. thats a saving of around $17.
we have to use sposies at night (2 per night, on on top of the other) so i only ever buy them when theyre on special

they are expensive, but i was recently fooled! I bought Home brand nappies for the first time ever (only ever bought Huggies before being a full time cloth user) and they were $6 for 12 nappies. Only when i got home did i realise that they were more expensive @ 50c each than huggies are! LOL

i have noticed that as well, that all the generic brands are all the same price and not really that much cheaper, tho snugglers on special in the mega box worked out really cheap before i did cloth

The figures go up depending on the size.

Newborn you get 108 per box for $44
Crawler its 96 for $44
Walker its 80 (I think)
and it gets worse from there. So newborn nappies cost less than 40c each, and "pull ups" cost about $1 each.

I did a graph somewhere, but it got lost when I changed computers.

I've been a sposie user until this year and ALWAYS calculated the cost per nappy because i couldn't afford them really (yes it took me THIS long to convert! lol)

If you work on .50c per nappy you'd be pretty good for huggies.

Sposies in general range from about 35c-53c per nappy! YIKES

Mum to 4, nearly wife to Mr Fee and maker of Top End Tush modern cloth nappies.

listed in order of priority

Out of interest, what makes them better than huggies our aldi? Are they biodegradable? I've never heard of them...

if you actually go to Woolworths website to the shop online part, it will actually tell you how much each they are for each of the sizes.

eg, Huggies Boy Junior size 20pk equates to $0.80 per nappy

ETA, the Coles website does the same, and its not just for the Huggies, but for all of the brands. HTH :D

They do look better environmentally than huggies, they might only take 50 years to break down, not 100!

i think the thing to remember is that you need to compost them yourself too, as the landfill conditions dont allow for them to decompose:(
i think sposies are 500 years?

I actually saw them reveiwed on EB, people who had used them, and knew a fair bit about them, havn't personally used them though!

the prices have just gone up, in the new year you will struggle to get them under $33 a box.

All the Major Retailers alternate who has them on special because it has been proven that the cost of nappies seriously influence where people go to do their grocery shopping.

We still use sposies here, and out of all the brands our local stock, i get huggies, because they are consistently good quality- i have pulled tabs off some others just opening them.

It's funny, I haven't seen nappies for $33 a box for ages now, now the 'special' price is $37-38  , that's a decent jump in that time hey!

I use dispoables. I did with my first and now with my second. Always buy huggies, and have only paid more then $29 a box a handful of times.. and even then I only pay 2 for $66. Chemart and IGA are the best for the $29 boxes. :) huggies also added 9 extra nappies into all their boxes this year. a little more for your dollar.

Hat off to all of you doing it with the cloth! Just thought I would let you know, to cure some curiosity hehe xxx

Ok, I just have to say that the "eco-friendly" nappies aren't really any different to huggies and the like. The difference is often they tell you to rip out the inside and compost it instead of throwing it in the bin - but if you wanted to, you could do that to huggies and other "not-eco friendly" brands :s
