I don't use cloth full time - so decided that I would purchase a box of Huggies (the so called Rolls Royce of disposables) and today I remembered why I dislike them so much......they leak! I have not once had a leak with Aldi Mamia (god bless Aldi). And No, it isn't because she needs to go up in size - Huggies just don't seem to be the right fit for either of my girls. Grrrrrrrr
Ok, vent over.

All disposables suck. Honestly, they are revolting plastic sacks of jelly with nice pictures on them :devilish:

Homebrand, Aldi, Huggies whatever they are- they are all the same. They leak, they smell, they are full of chemicals.... I don't use them any more but it is easy because we have 1000000000 nappies :p

Have you thought about using cloth full time? Mine never leak :D

oh no, dont say that, I just bought a pack, as I am going away for a few days next week, and didnt want to lug around the cloth ones, and bother my mum with washing off poo somwhere in her house lol.... I thought about Aldi ones, but then thought no, I will get pack of huggies, they should last the night better...

What cloth are you using? I use BB, Ittis, Fuzzi Bunz, Foxy Nappies, BP's... And we use them for 3-4 hours :)

I used to do cloth full time with DD1 - No, I don't think I will ever return to it full time. Im happy with doing it part time - especially since I culled my stash. BUT with all the fabulous nappies out there I may just end up using cloth more often.

So do I :( .. All the time..
but rather a leak than use disposables, iykwim?

Ive only used about half a pack in the last 5 months, and am quite proud of that, only used cause he had thrush, and didnt know how to deal with it, lol..
I have 2 samples here of Huggies, I keep thinking I should use them, but cant bring myself to use them, heh..

I used to use BILO homebrand on occasions with the others, do you have BILO there?

Out of Huggies and Aldi Mamia - I certainly prefer the Mamia brand. Lasts 14 hours overnight with both girls.

Ooh, I meant to say, I think my problem is that Im using medium nappies, and he isnt quite the medium size yet, if that makes sense, he probably should still be in the smalls..

Oh no, you obviously don't have the addiction I have :dizzy: Which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on where you stand! Once we started using cloth I couldn't stand using sposies on Phoenix ever again- once I tried to put one on him, and I lasted 10 mins before I used a flat instead...

Could it be you both have nappies that don't fit properly? Maybe your bubs are between sizes which makes leaks easier?? Are we talking poo leaks or wee leaks or both? I've never had one :dizzy:

ps- we get less leaks with cloth than with sposie's... but we find mamia better than huggies but only marginally.

I completely agree, Jenn!! The smell of wet sposies makes me dry retch- a cloth night nappy stinks but 2 days a week I look after a baby who is in sposies, and that smell makes me almost vomit every time I change her... Sometimes I just put my nappies on her so I don't have to deal with the smell

MCN Buying Addiction.....once was addicted and then reformed....on my way to being addicted again but lack of $$$ in the short term is kerbing that habit. I used to have Bubblebubs, Wackywraps, BBHHemp, Missymoo pockets, Greenkids etc but have got rid of most of them.
Current stash has 4 BBB, 2 sherpa Cutetooshies Cuddlebuns, 1 devine Cutetooshies Pink and lime green inner velour Cuddlebuns and 3 Bumgenius. This time I am being more selective of what I buy. Bring on the money DH I say!

Amber, its possible, I get leaks around the legs of the BB's, but not all the time, some days they are on for a good 4 hrs and no leaks at all. I have noticed that they seem to leak more if she is not wearing any pants over them... or am I just noticing it sooner??

I get poop leaks on the BBB over nights sometimes, but that is rare, mainly Wee.

As for Aldis lasting over night, they just dont cut it for me, I use them every so often as I still have some here that I stocked up on before making the decision to use cloth, and I put a BBB without inserts over the top, as it always leaks poop out the leg. Mind you she always does a poo first thing in the morning, so that ontop of a full nappy just isnt working with the Aldi ones, interested to see if the Huggies will hold it.

Well that's what I thought :p Inbetween sizes= leakage. We got into AIO's when Phoenix was truly a medium so it meant we've never had a leak

Ive got here my main problem with leaking nappies, which are my honeyboy and my BB.. I keep thinking Ill wait before I pass judgement on them, cause he is probably just too small yet, he's a little boy, probably just like 7.5kg, but a small 7.5 kwim.. I have no problems whatsoever with BBB's tho.. and another thing is that I only get wee leaks, never a poo one.. maybe his legs are too skinny for med's yet.. It doesnt worry me tho, really, cause its only wee.. Wee can be washed off.. I just make sure he's got on a nonleaking nappy when we go out.. I have a nappy here, called sunshine tots, which is a great night nappy, and Ive not one leak in that, and of course my Nappylicious with a superbooster..

We still use huggies at night cause i cant master the night nappy :goofy:
We also send them to daycare and my mum uses them twice a week when she has mackenzie.

We have not once had a huggies leak so I think they are pretty good for a disposable- our old daycare centre used Babylove nappies and they were like a piece of paper towel! One wee and they were gone! lol

Having said that though, when Mackenzie is with me she is in cloth and if I could manage cloth 3 days in a row with daycare and mum I prob would but that would mean extra washing in the middle of a work week and I cant do it! :stunned:

i like huggies. we use them at night time as i havent got a night time nappy. they have never leaked. i have tried the aldis ones when we lived in brisbane and i thought they were so stiff. they were horrible. as for all the other brands they all leaked or didnt last as long as huggies. when i find i night time nappy i guess we will stop using huggies all together. MIL wont change a mcn tho so if she stays at MIL she will have to wear huggies :(

what fabric is good to use for an overnight nappy ??

Bamboo, bamboo, bamboo!! Best by far
You could convert your MIL by making it easy for her to change bubs- velcro nappies, aios, pockets- avoid fitteds and covers, they are fiddly for those who are not mcn-savvy :p

she hates changing disposables and u throw them away, there is no way she would change a mcn and rinse it and keep it :S

we use all in ones with pilchers...... i havent made many nappies with PUL in them. only made 1, almost finished my second.

bamboo fleece ?? how many layers ? my machine will only sew 4 layers at a time :(

I hate them. But they are better than others I tried before full time cloth. Baby love smelt like beef flavoured two minute noodles before they were on him... and he stunk all day, and not to mention the smell when I took it off... eww *vomits*

Yeah, they're such a rip off too...
