DS1 is lactose intolerant.

when a bub it was, tummy aches, frothy poos, vomiting (sometimes), restless nights. Sometimes came out in a rash depending how much he had

Now at 5yrs old its
- tummy ache and straight to the toilet, sometimes vomits (but rarely, its more out the other end now)

I never really thought about it when they were young. She was a very spewy baby, and now if she has too much she gets severe stomach ache and diarrhea.

I am the same :(

Lactose, she has certain foods that do it but its mainly milk. I often wonder if its a mild case of IBS?

ok so i guess what im wondering - is it normal for milk (protein) allergy kids to shove their fist/ fingers down their throat screaming its sore? her gi/ allergist said its behavioural - something shes learnt but its coming more and more frequent when we do food trials with milk /soy protein :( just the screaming gets worse now .. and he keeps saying we have to try every 6 wks ...

tay had a trial of milk yesterday .. she has been screaming for a carebear bandaid for her throat / mouth !!

oh and the excema started this week :(

shes only 2 .. :( she has no idea what it is - she just wanted it coz the boys were having one - and she was due for a trial so we figured it woudlnt hurt to sue that as our trial the cocoa shes had before in cooking - was only added milk..

I would assume it does really hurt if shes screaming for hours ? she didnt get to bed till around 2am :( even then we could hear her refluxing so gave her extra pillows to sit up with

Yeah see to me if she doesnt know what it is then it must really hurt. We trialled josh with normal milk last night again and it had run thru him by early this morning(ever so delightful). I dont think she is old enough for it to be behavioural

we have disagreements with our allergist all the time over this.. coz he keeps saying it is a behavioral thing .but she has no concept of what she can and cant have kwim ..

how old is ds? tay gets constipated from diary it seems but when she did have the runs (as a baby from it ) it was gross.. jorja it seems gets the runs from diary protein :s

Josh is 2 and a half, he can eat small amounts of yoghurt and cheese now but i swapped one bottle of milk and its gone through him, so we shall stick to soy (yay).
We go through the rch but its done by the dermatologist and a paed here in town. They seem to think the dairy allergy has gone but obviously it hasnt. We still have eggs and nuts.

tay loves yoghurt and cheese .. she can only eat the Jalna pot set though or she vomits really bad (lol she only eats a tsp and she gets really constipated after it - she lives on argarol ) .. and again she will only eat homebrand cheese - but she can only tolerate a few bites before the gagging starts '

what state are you in ?

we try tay on soy but she builds up a reaction to that too .. takes her about 3 days of 30mls in her elecare bottles and then the fist in her mouth starts and the screaming OMG the screaming ..

does josh get reflux from his allergy too ?

We are in vic, he was on neocate and was responding really well but the dermatologist said to trial him on soy and he tolerates it to a degree(i have never had to change nappies like his before - we were going through 16 disposables a day before we swapped to cloth).

Both boys had reflux but Josh seems fine now though when he starts vommiting it continues for days. Josh doesnt scream with his reactions he just whines and whines which is understandable

We go under Dr Orchard, im not sure who the lady is who comes and takes the tests, i cant recall if we have been actually introduced. I find it hard as this last time there has been 6 months in between visits and when i ring up to try and get in there is a three month waiting list anyway. Its nuts

Sam has a milk protein allergy to cows milk and goats milk.

His first symptom was as a baby. First reaction he vomited 2 hours after ingesting milk products. Second reaction (several weeks later) he vomited 1 hour after (got told it was gastro but I didn't believe it). 3rd reaction he refused to drink and got hives spreading up his face where the milk touched his lips. He also got hives when I kissed him after eating yoghurt or milk products.

He didn't have milk again for YEARS until he was accidentally exposed. He got stomach cramps after having a mouthful of something with milk. Then last month he had something with milk in it and vomited an hour later.....no more hives though.
